you can find tons of different collar tutorials all over the web. since i love DIY's mag asked me to create a simple tutorial for their first issue. i thought it would be nice to use some materials, which you've either got at home already, or you only have to spend a couple of euros for... with a great outcome.
for this pearl-collar you need:
- 1 blouse / shirt (or just a collar if you wanna wear it like a necklace)
- various bracelets (i used some different ones from h&m)
- 1 sewing thread (at best the same colour as the blouse)
- some patience (takes you a while to fix all the pearls)
define the area, where you wanna embellish your shirt - it can either be the whole collar (like i did) or just a part of it (like collar tips) - put some pearls on the collar without fixing them, just to see how close to each other you wanna have them and which distance looks the best for you. start fixing them from one point and go on until the area you defined is covered with pearls. you could mark the positions with a pencil if that's easier for you.
guess you shouldn't throw this blouse into the washing machine any more after finishing. i'd go for a soft hand wash, because i'm afraid that the coloured pearls won't survive the machine. have fun embellishing your shirt! i will show you some more simple DIY collar ideas soon.
